What is eeMailer's Outbox?

"eeMailer's outbox" is a SMTP email sender that sends email for both eeMailer and other programs, scripts or batch files.  It runs as a Windows system service and displays it's icon in the Window's system tray.  This Window's service runs in the background and can send both "text" or HTML email. It is compatible with Windows NT, 2000, 2003, XP.

Setup

The eeMailer SMTP System Service can be installed either as a "stand alone" program or as part of a "third party"  program installation package.

To verify it is installed, you can check the "Services" console in Administration Tools (Microsoft Management Console) of your Windows NT/XP operating system.  The Service name is: eeMailer

Also, you should see the eeMailer icon in the system tray.   (beside the system clock)

If the tray icon is yellow then the eeMailer service is running.

If the tray icon  is red, then the eeMailer service is either Paused or Stopped.

If you "right click" the eeMailer tray icon, you will access the eeMailer setup menu including the ability to Start, Pause or Stop the service.

If you "double click" the eeMailer tray icon, you will access the eeMailer setup configuration screen.

If the eeMailer tray icon is not there at all, then the eeMailer service is either not installed or the "Show tray icon" is not selected in the Setup options.

Right Click the eeMailer icon in Windows System tray:

Select:  Setup

Double Click the eeMailer Tray icon to access Setup:

SMTP Service Port:

The default is set to the standard SMTP service port:  Port 25

User Name:

Service options:

Email file extension: This parameter sets the file extension that eeMailer will recognize as a valid email in the Outbox. The default extension is ".txt"  This parameter is changeable to accommodate some third party programs that require a different extension.

Check Outbox Every:

The amount of time between checks of the outbox for email to be sent.

The default is 15 seconds between checks.

The default location for the outbox is a subfolder of the eeMailer application folder. The folder name is:   eeMailer\Outbox

The checking interval can be set in minutes or seconds.  The eeMailer program takes very little system overhead, so a short interval won't cause any system problems, however a very short interval may be a concern to your ISP.

Maximum Send:

Sets the maximum number of emails to send per hour.  This parameter is used to make sure you don't exceed the maximum allowed by your ISP.

HELO Domain Name:

Enables the customization of the hidden HELO email header.  The default is usually set to your computer name. Most user will set this to the business domain name.

Beep when sending email:

When checked, your server will "beep" to notify you that an email has been sent.

Group messages by recipient:

When checked, eeMailer will consolidate all pending emails addressed to the same recipient into 1 email before sending.  This is done between each 'send interval' specified in the eeMailer configuration file.

This feature is designed to reduce repetitive emails for the same recipient.

Use Threads:

Enables simultaneous sending of email. Use when you need to send a large number of emails in a short period of time.

Start at Startup:

Starts the eeMailer Windows System Service at computer startup.  It is recommended to start at startup to leave eeMailer running in the background.  It is a very low overhead service and will not effect the performance of your computer.
